Speaking in September 2017, Finance Secretary Derek MacKay, confirmed that the government will continue to provide relief on business rates for small businesses in Scotland. It’s estimated that over 100,000 Scottish businesses paid no business rates under the scheme, during the year 2017-2018.

Are You Eligible For The Small Business Bonus Scheme?
You are eligible for discounted business rates under the Small Business Bonus Scheme if:
- You pay rates on business premises in Scotland
- The combined rateable value of all your premises in the country is £35,000 or less
Does My Business Qualify For Business Rates Relief?
You could receive a substantial discount or have your rates waived altogether, under the SSBS.
If the total rateable value of all your business premises is less than £15,000 – you are eligible for a 100% discount on your business rates. This could mean a hefty saving for lots of our small business tenants at Heathhall Business Centre.
If your total rateable value is between £15,001 and £18,000 you are eligible for a 25% discount on your business rates.
Do you have more than one premises? A 25% discount is also available to business owners with more than one business property, whose combined rateable value is between £18,001 and £35,000. You’re 25% discount will be applied to each individual property that has a rateable value of less than £18,000.
