Driver Hire Dumfries is one of over 100 Driver Hire branches in the UK. Owned by franchisee Donald McClymont, the Dumfries branch has been run by director Gordon Hyslop and his team for over 12 years.

Driver Hire provide a range of recruitment solutions for temporary and permanent roles in logistics and transport. Specialising primarily in sourcing candidates for temporary logistics and driving roles, the company has evolved to meet the increasing demand to recruit for permanent positions in office and factory work.

Reasons for Moving

Originally situated on Bank Street in Dumfries, Driver Hire made the move to Heathhall Business Centre three years ago when he found himself struggling to attract the quality of candidates his business needed. Access to the town centre office was restricted by limited parking and there wasn’t enough space available to accommodate his growing team.

A New Base for Driver Hire at Heathhall

Gordon needed an accessible location that could become a real base for the business, with excellent transport links and ample parking for his drivers and staff. Moving to Heathhall has allowed Gordon to expand his business and take on additional space to keep up with a growing recruitment market. The new high speed internet service has been a welcome addition for the company, whose clients rely primarily on its online recruitment portal. Staff have also benefitted from the wealth of shops and services on site, not least the new Marchbanks Cafe!

Benefits to Business Development

The new Heathhall office is minutes from the motorway with lots of parking onsite, providing easy access 7 days a week. Just off the A75, Heathhall Business Centre provides excellent access to the UK’s motorway network which has motivated more drivers to come to Driver Hire Dumfries from further afield. The result has been an overall increase in candidate quality for Gordon and his team.

Increased Brand Awareness

Taking advantage of a new advertising opportunity, the team used the unbranded retail unit to ramp up Driver Hire’s ‘kerb-appeal’ with shop front advertising, increasing brand awareness and attracting passing trade with their own entrance and branded signage. The result? An increase in word of mouth referrals, that have in turn helped Driver Hire become a trusted name in recruitment in Dumfries and Galloway.

Growing the Team

Since the move to Heathhall Business Centre, Driver Hire Dumfries have been able to recruit more, high quality candidates and grow their own team. Senior Recruitment Manager, Christine Proudfoot, joined the company in 2016 and now manages a busy workload matching temporary candidates with new roles.
