Stuart Jamieson is on a mission is to help the folk of Dumfries and beyond shape up, as we put the pandemic behind us.
Stuart and his Personal Training and Sports Therapy business are settling in nicely to the centre and you might want to get in touch if you got a bit too comfy on the couch during the lockdowns.
Said Dumfries-born-and-bred Stuart, “I’ve been a personal trainer for ten years and in that time I’ve worked in London and all over the UK.
“The pandemic has made people more health conscious and has woken them up to the benefits of all kinds of fitness and activity.
“The Covid restrictions have made it a bit more challenging but now I’m seeing a lot more people getting off the couch and starting afresh with fitness, plus there’s also been a real buzz since I moved into the centre from long-standing clients that have been dying to get back on it.
“I also offer online coaching and did this well before the pandemic.”
How is he settling into the centre?
“I have to say that moving into Heathhall Business Centre has been great. I love it. It’s been so good for business and it’s such a welcoming environment.
“Everyone is really helpful and they’ve been so accommodating with all that I need and continue to need for my business. The other business owners are so friendly too. There’s such a sense of community.
“My goal is to expand into a bigger unit within the centre in time.”
Stuart offers three key services:
- Online fitness courses. These are for you if you’re looking to change your body weight, up your cardio endurance and overall body strength.
- One-to-one personal training. This is best for you if you’re familiar with the gym environment but it’s more private, obviously, should you be a little unsure, are an absolute beginner, or are getting back into fitness following a prolonged absence.
- Semi-private personal training. This is his clients’ most popular choice. It’s when you work in a group of six people. Currently indoors, he’s mid converting an outside space.
And what a pedigree Stuart has. As well as having all this under his belt, he’s also a professional athlete.
“I’m a powerlifting athlete. It’s a test of maximum strength over three main lifts that most people would incorporate one or all of into their gym routine: squats, bench press and deadlifts.
“I’ve competed for about 12 years on the international circuit in places as far-flung as Johannesburg and Moscow, and the Russian capital has to be the favourite place I visited. It’s so vastly different to anything I was used to.”
